Lower Secondary Curriculum
Lycée International de Londres follows the French national curriculum from Year 1 (Grande Section de Maternelle) to Year 13 (Terminale/Baccalauréat), offered in a bilingual setting with the goal that our students master both languages and cultures with equal fluency and ease.
From Years 7 to 10 — known as Collège in the French system — our students continue to train their minds to think in two languages, from literature to arts and from science to maths, acquiring fluency not only in the use of two languages but also in the understanding of different approaches to problem solving and of the influence of different cultures on the way we think. We initiate the formal study of a third modern language in Year 7. Students will choose one from among three or four languages, depending on enrolment.
Our staff teach in their own native language, bringing along the specific educational culture of their country as part of the learning experience for our students.
“Opening Minds” classes and after-school programme
In addition to the traditional curriculum, Opening Minds classes are intended to further students’ curiosity and the joy of learning, and are offered twice a week in either language. They usually take place at the end of each day, from 3 pm to 4 pm.
After 4 pm, a programme of extra-curricular sporting and cultural activities is offered until 5:30 pm, for an additional fee. Watch our Opening Minds classes video below and learn about our after-school programme here.
