Financial Support

Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill is a co-educational, bilingual independent school with charitable status serving students from age 3 to 18. The school does not receive any subsidies from the French, British, or any other governments. Our school fees support the daily operation of the school and pay for our teacher and staff salaries, equipment, and academic resources, as well as the upkeep of our campus. Any profits are fully reinvested to further improve the learning experience for our students.

There are three financial support options available to families. In addition to financial support from the French government and the French Scholarship Foundation (FSF), the school may offer complimentary financial support. This provision fully aligns with our mission and values to promote inclusion and access to independent education.

The Churchill Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Churchill Academic Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based award funded generously by the Wembley Education Charitable Trust (WECT). This Scholarship is available to new students with outstanding academic results. This award is limited to one student per family for a maximum of three years. It is subject to an annual review of academic results and positive contribution to school life. This £3,000 Scholarship will be applied as a deduction on the third-term invoice.

Applications for this Scholarship are part of the registration process for new students and must be submitted by 1 May for the following academic year. Families must submit the report cards for the past two academic years and any previous exam results. The School will also request a recommendation letter from the previous school. An internal selection committee chaired by the Head of School will examine applications and communicate decisions by 1 June. All decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

French Government Financial Support

The Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger (AEFE) offers financial support for French citizens, who are registered with the French Consulate and are eligible.

Check here for more information.

The Lycée Churchill Bursary Programme

The Lycée Churchill Bursary Programme offers a limited number of means-tested bursaries to current families. Each bursary awarded is for £3,000 per family, granted for up to two years, subject to an annual review of the family’s financial situation and the student’s positive contribution to school life. This amount will be applied as a deduction to the third-term invoice.

It is unlikely your application will be considered if:

  • Your family already receives financial support from the French government, French Scholarship Foundation or the Churchill Academic Excellence Scholarship
  • Your children are eligible for a bursary from the French Government. If this is the case, please apply directly to the French Consulate https://uk.ambafrance.org/-Enseignement-Bourses-scolaires-772-

How to apply:

  • To receive an application form, interested families should contact financialsupport@lyceeinternational.london before June 1.
  • Families must submit completed applications and the required financial documentation directly to our designated bursary administration provider. All information will remain confidential and will not be shared with the school.
  • The provider assesses applications based on the documentation sent, and makes recommendations to the school.
  • Final decisions are communicated by the school by June 30, and cannot be appealed.

School's Additional Financial Support

If a family receives a bursary from the AEFE, the school will automatically provide additional, proportionate funds to complement the amount received.

Bursaries awarded by the AEFE are capped and do not correspond to the full amount of the LIL tuition fees. The LIL Complimentary Financial Support Programme is calculated as follows:

  • Pupils who receive 100% of the AEFE bursary will have no fees to pay, as the difference will be covered by the LIL Complimentary Financial Support Programme.
  • Pupils who receive 80% of the AEFE bursary will be responsible for 20% of the full LIL fees.
  • Pupils who receive 15% of the AEFE bursary will be responsible for 85% of the full LIL fees.
French Scholarship Foundation

The French Scholarship Foundation (FSF) is an independent charity which offers financial support to families or any nationality with students at Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill and Collège Français Bilingue de Londres (CFBL).

Families from both schools with financial needs may find out more and submit an online application through the FSF website.
